Bob Raybould
Over the course of five decades as a successful salesman and businessman, Bob Raybould has utilized his self-improvement tool, Success by Emotions (SBE), to further his career and enrich his personal life.
In 1961, when the Berlin Wall went up, Bob served in Germany as the Report of Survey officer for the entire Seventh Army. After serving in that role for two years, he was awarded the Seventh Army Certificate of Achievement. A few years later, while Bob was in the early stages of his career in financial planning, he helped Aetna Life buy the first oil field ever purchased by an insurance company, marking a milestone for the industry.

After serving in that role for two years, he was awarded the Seventh Army Certificate of Achievement. A few years later, while Bob was in the early stages of his career in financial planning, he helped Aetna Life buy the first oil field ever purchased by an insurance company, marking a milestone for the industry.
In the mid-1980s, Bob introduced the University of Utah football team to SBE and showed their players how to use the tool to improve their performance. Later, in 2004, the team’s coach, Urban Meyer, asked Bob to work with six of his players during the offseason. Four of those players went on to play in the NFL. Bob again brought the principles of SBE to the sports world when he helped a Utah basketball player named Johnnie Bryant (now the associate head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and former associate head coach for the New York Knicks) increase his free-throw percentage by 10 points.
In 1987, Bob joined John T. Sweazey to form a mortgage banking firm, TRI Financial, which filled a great need when the financial crisis of the late 1980s put most savings and loan firms out of business. TRI later sold its almost $2 billion portfolio of loans, making great returns for their investors. In 2000, Bob helped his son and his partner launch Arlington Value Management, a very successful investment firm that outperformed the market by over 8 percent for about twenty years. Since 2010, Bob has invested in start-ups with great potential, particularly in the health-care innovation sector. He has invested in multiple companies focused on diagnostics and therapeutics, believing that their technologies can positively impact patients and global health for decades to come.
Over the last four years, Bob has been working to better understand SBE so that others can use it and double their speed in moving forward and achieving their goals. His book, Success by Emotions, is a result of that work.
